Jextoban in her just concluded 18th Valedictory Service and graduation ceremony held on the 16th July 2016 played host to the special guest of Honour, The former Head of State Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon(GCFR) at the Ibafo campus in Ogun State.
The valedictory service was anchored by Pastor Pete Onyia who extol the virtues of Godliness as a key requirement for global success. He also admonished the students and their parents to allow God first in all their endeavours.
The Principal, Emmanuel Adegoke in his speech encouraged the graduating class of 2016 to “Go for God, Follow good examples, and pursue after Greatness”. The Chairman Board of Governors Pastor Adedayo Ojo in his remark “Thank God there are still in our midst people who got to the pinnacle on their chosen career through dint of hard work, transparent honesty and total dependence on God. Such I say you should emulate” He further said that “Success without Character is abysmal failure”.
The Special Guest of Honor, The Former Head of State, His Excellency, Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon (GCFR) in his speech said he was delighted to be in Jextoban. He mentioned that his first contact with Jextoban was with two of our students. He also stated that the impressive achievements of our students in public examinations made him enquired more about the founders.
In his remarks He noted that “…the good impression I formed made me come to a conclusion that Jextoban was indeed established to promote high moral and academic standards”. In his charge, to the graduating students He said “you owe yourselves a duty to absorb what you have been taught, and show good results”.
His Excellency, further charged students “to continue to respect and appreciate their teachers for doing their best to give them honest and good grounding as well as the value of hard work… What you have learnt will give you confidence to move to the next stage of your life as well as the maturity to make positive contributions to society and country.
Other dignitaries’ presence was the Honorable Commissioner of Education Ogun state (represented) also the Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs Lagos state (also represented), Prof Wang Yong Jing the Director of the Confucius Institute, Faculty of Art, University of Lagos.
